A Sonoma Coast Chardonnay – from a producer that has really impressed me in the past. A vibrant gold and green colour in the glass, with a little opacity to it. A wild, flamboyant ride on the nose – perfumes of lemon peel, guava, cashew, fresh hay, mandarin, crushed shell, baking spice and toasted sourdough. Fruit leads the way, with a surround of nutty oak. Zesty acidity supports the density and weight of ripe citrus and tropical flavours, giving the full-bodied palate some zing and line. A phenolic edge to the texture, and a dry, persistent finish. 93pts
