The wine that brought the first 100/100 score from New Zealand Master of Wine Bob Campbell. Mendoza clone fruit from across their Moutere vineyards in Nelson. Quite golden in the glass, with matching perfumes of peach, citrus, yellow apple, hazelnut, salted caramel and lemon blossom. Although the wines is now at ten years old (and should be at peak drinking) there’s a distinct energy to the palate that shows a youthful brio and intensity. Dry, generously concentrated and with a balance of toasty oak, crisp acid and prominent minerality. The finish shows spice too, with a persistence and precision. 95pts
