The Champion Wine of Show and Chardonnay Trophy-winning wine from the New Zealand International Wine Show in 2020. After a few years in bottle, it is a light golden-green in the glass, with an opulent bouquet of lemon curd, cashew nut, grapefruit, nectarine, tarragon and a flinty, smoky minerality. Striking acidity still rules the roost, but that savoury note has built and sits as an excellent foil to the juicy stonefruit. With power on full throttle; yet with an elegance from that balanced structure. The oak, the creamy texture and the butterscotch accents all contribute in their layers as the palate opens. For the price this has sensational complexity and no surprises at its success. Lovely, viscose, drying finish. 94pts
