Made from Clone 337 Cabernet grapes, grown in a 3/4ha block in the Gimblett Gravels. An intense black/garnet colour in the glass, with and equally big, smoky set of aromas, with cassis, mint, liquorice, blackcurrant, mocha, marmite, macademia, plum and cherry blossom florals. Young and quite tight into the palate, but with a burly weight and a pulse of ripe, concentrated fruit. Well structured, with some fine, savoury tannins, lively acidity and plenty of cedar where they haven’t spared using some good oak. Savoury, meaty, with pepper, an iron-earth graphite tang, and notes of leather and capsicum. Nicely balanced and quite complex, with a sleek texture and a pristine, sustained finish. 95pts
