From the Upper Moutere region of Nelson. Keenly aromatic, youthful and accented with a smoky, flinty crushed-shell minerality. Hazelnut, lemon peel, pink grapefruit, baking spice and white peach on the nose. The palate is generous, with power and purity of fruit, driven by a saline line of acidity. More stone fruit, citrus and plenty of complexity and interest here. The oak is bold – spicy and toasty; plus a layer of characterful, pithy fruit tannin and a creamy texture envelops it all. Impressive length on the drying finish. 94pts
