Lawsons Dry Hills Gewurtztraminer 2017

A Marlborough wine, from an outstanding producer. There’s rarely a wine from winemaker Marcus Wright that fails to deliver far beyond the price point you’re buying it at. Again, this has plenty of typical rose petal florals on the nose, together with a subtle petrol waft. It’s softly sweet but also has a lovely dry and waxy concentration to the fruit. Lychee, but with some feijoa and a little savoury roasted fennel and apple. A breezy acidity and a hint of spice (and oak?) come through towards the end. A carefully crafted wine, very varietal, and slightly European edge to it.
