Made from grapes planted many years ago by Clearview Estate legend Tim Turvey and daughter Katie at Te Awanga, Hawke’s Bay. A brilliant pale lemon gold, with voluminous aromas that spring from the glass. Vibrantly perfumed with ripe pear, lime curd, nutmeg, apple, butterscotch, nectarine and roast cashew. A big wine, with intensity and power to burn. Concentrated tropical fruit flavours are spun around the palate with a brisk line of acidity. The oak is also big, but masterfully applied, and gets eaten up by the rich depth of fruit in here. The texture is also, well – big – peach melba, nougat and creme caramel spring to mind. It’s all big. It’s also rather delicious, and actually with an elegance and harmony that it carries – with a swagger – rather well. 96pts.
