A organic, single vineyard wine, from the Loveblock farm at the top of the hills in Marlborough’s Awatere Valley. Portions of the wine were fermented in neutral French oak and concrete egg. A vibrant pale green-gold in the glass, deliciously aromatic. A lively perfume, showing a depth of tropical fruit flavours – green melon, fig, nectarine, lychee and ginger, highlighted with herbal and floral notes. A lighter touch into the palate, where the richness of the nose gives sway to more pear, honeycomb, lemon rind and crushed green herbs. Delicate but with a complexity that also starts to turn quite mineral, as a chalky granite tightness nudges in towards the back of the palate. The acidity is clean, flowing through the middle, into the creamy texture that envelops the finish of the wine.. A purity and character and that is undoubtedly influenced by these new vessels for fermentation; I look forward to more like this! 93pts.
