From the Awatere Valley, and winning a Gold medal at NZIWS this year, comes this single vineyard dry style Riesling from the 2018 vintage (with a striking new black and gold labelling).
On the nose are immediately florals – orange blossom and chamomile, with plenty of apricot and citrus fruits. A fresh bite of acidity and a nudge of sweetness to go with the ripe fruit flavours, brings a lovely balance to the palate.
Flavours of nashi, white peach and candy apple with bay leaf and dried pineapple. Nice structure and a zesty, dry finish with good length. Plenty to find in this wine!
92pts. Tasted alongside some sushi and seared tuna – a great match. Would be interesting to try and cellar this to bring out once it’s developed some bottle age.
