A wine from Bannockburn in Central Otago – now 16 years in the bottle, sealed with a screw cap. A bright, pale gold colour in the glass. The perfume is at once fruity, nutty, stony and floral. To address those in order, the golden ripeness of meyer lemon, pineapple and nectarine; then toasted hazelnut, iron-rich earth and terracotta; before that last waft brings elderflower and orange blossom. Still with a vibrant and saline acidity though the youthful line through the palate slows a touch now and broadens towards the finish that retains a pithy, dry length and persistence. Excellent considering the age of it. 95pts
