Pyramid Valley North Canterbury Pinot Noir 2019

Pyramid Valley North Canterbury Pinot Noir 2019

A Pinot Noir from the producers home North Canterbury region. A dark crimson and purple colour in the glass. The perfume leads with toasted souk spices and floral notes, before an ebb and flow of plum, blueberry, strawberry and cherry fruit. The brooding colour doesn’t follow through to the palate, which is medium-bodied and quite elegant. Ample acidity blends well with the integrated oak and it is the peppery spice of the tannin that is the driver – wrapping around the pulse of fruit. Not overly worked or polished, with a fresh energy and flow. There is space for some contrasting savoury character too – with peat, thyme and dried orange peel tones to the back of the palate. Drinks well now, but has everything in place for ageing potential if cellared. 92pts
