A Riesling from the Awatere Valley in Marlborough. A very pale steely lemon-green colour in the glass. A dry style, it has a restrained aroma that does have some lovely toasted baguette in there though, alongside the green apple, lemon peel, charred pineapple, grapefruit and jasmine notes. A tight acidity gives bounce across the palate, where there is as much savoury flavour as there is ripe juice. Green tea, verbena, lime and bay leaf plus a little biscuit suit this very dry expression. The finish is clean, refreshing and sneaks a little, subtle spice in. 91pts
