A white wine from the Ashmore Vineyard in Marlborough. A deep golden colour in the glass, with a little green to the rim and just a hint of hazy opacity. Aromatic, with grapefruit, red apple, apricot, nutmeg, almond, incense and pithy lemon rind. A briney acidity gives a tart entry to the palate, with a phenolic grip of fruit tannin and a sense of fuzzy peach skin on the tongue. The fruit is ripely succulent, held in that net of chalky texture. Rounded and mouth-filling there’s a biscuity oatmeal quality at the finish that is drying and pleasing. 91pts
