Not made every year – the fruit is hand-picked from the Estate vineyard and, if good enough, made into this Central Otago Sauvignon Blanc. A pale straw colour in the glass. There is an elegance to the bouquet, with delicate florals of jasmine and lemon blossom, then blackcurrant, citrus and finally a touch of more-tropical notes of ginger and melon. Whilst the palate shows more weight than the perfume suggests, a crystalline acidity gives zesty and energy, and it fairly zips across the tongue. Layers of culinary herbs, stony minerality and almond paste add complexity towards the back. Dry, clean and persistent at the finish. 91pts
