From the Upper Moutere Valley in Tasman – the Jester range from Unkel are six single varietal wines, sealed under cork. A translucent lemon-green colour in the glass. The perfume has grapefruit, nashi pear, weetbix, almond, lemon peel, white peach and crunchy apple notes. Medium-bodied and quite fresh in style – the prickly acidity leads the way, with a clean line through the palate. The texture is a mixture of oatmeal creaminess and a more chalky minerality, giving a real interest to the mouthfeel beyond just pure juiciness. The finish is dry, with just a hint of herbal spice to it. 91pts
