A single vineyard wine, from the Maybern vineyard behind the Johanneshof Cellar Door in Koromiko, in Marlborough, tasted on a recent visit to the property. A pale copper and golden pink colour in the glass. The bouquet has a profusion of floral notes at the top end – rose petal, honeysuckle and lilac. The fruit is equally vivacious, with flavours and perfumes of satsuma, cherry, raspberry, melon and nectarine. A fine wine version of rosé, leaning into well-integrated acidity, silken texture and a gentle rasp of tannins. Drinking well now, this should also develop nicely in bottle if well-cellared. 93pts
