A Marlborough wine, from the pioneers of Sauvignon Blanc in the Rapaura sub-region. A pale silvery green colour in the glass. A powerful perfume escapes as the bottle is opened, with blackcurrant, passionfruit, cut grass, capsicum and lemon peel on the nose. The palate has more elegance, showing a bright acidity and chalky minerality and the citrus flavours coming through strongly. A soft texture is a good balance to the quite tight, firm flavours that would otherwise dominate and harden the palate. A dry finish has reasonable length and is refreshingly piquant. 90pts
