A Cabernet Franc from the Noetzli Family Vineyard in Maraekakaho, Hawke\u2019s Bay. A light burgundy red in the glass. More of a Loire-inspired expression than Bordeaux, this has a crunch and levity to the palate that is refreshing and energetic. Could be popped in the fridge and be presented as a chilled red – but for me I like this juicy style at a low room-temperature. Cranberry, red cherry, sarsparilla and orange peel with incense and Campari. Olive leaf, cola and a hint of moss and twig give a savoury edge to the palate, balancing well with that plush red fruit.
