An Amontillado sherry, which is effectively an aged version of a Fino sherry, taking that fresh young wine and adding another 25 years of age! Labelled VORS – Very Old Rare Sherry. A golden terracotta colour in the glass, with a warm, nutty perfume filled with apricot, marmalade, caramel, orange zest, quince and dates. A wonderfully complex wine, chock full of juxtapositions, hidden layers that will suddenly pop open, and quite a bit of punch and power in the palate. Concentrated, plush and unctuous, yet lusty, racy and succulent. Look for flavours of mulberry, walnut and nutmeg, but also the smell of antique furniture – leather, mahogany, varnish.
