A densely ruby wine \u2013 almost inkly deep. A nose of cedary smokiness, crushed herbs and sweet, dark red fruits leads into a palate with more of the same. Some black fruits start to come through, wrapped in a blanket of vanilla oak, and underpinned with grippy tannins. Quite dense and young, but juicy and fresh to a full bodied depth. A persistant sweetness to the finish. Quite tight now, but with the structure and acidity to last a good ten years I would think.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-25fd7a7 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"25fd7a7\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-cbfa4cd\" data-id=\"cbfa4cd\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-31aac3c elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"31aac3c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Tongue in Groove Riesling 2015<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-1cfa171 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"1cfa171\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-15d4a2b\" data-id=\"15d4a2b\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5287e27 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"5287e27\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>From the Bedford Vineyard in Waipara<\/strong>, a deep golden yellow\/lime in the glass; with a wonderful peppery and orange floral nose. Some of that phenolic kerosene creeps in but its not your straightforward Riesling-thing going on here at all. This has something of a champagne edge to it \u2013 decent acidity and a creamy, almost biscuit yeastiness to the rich and full palate. Some pepper balanced with a layer of honeyed melon and mandarin zest that\u2019s not too sweet but edgy and pure at the same time. A long clean finish closes it out. A surprising wine \u2013 it has wisps of other styles going through it \u2013 a chardonnay drinker would find a lot to love in here, as much as the Riesling fanatics will.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-74a6ae3 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"74a6ae3\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-ffb57b0\" data-id=\"ffb57b0\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-09f525a elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"09f525a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Opawa Sauvignon Blanc 2019<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-4b741fb elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"4b741fb\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-6ec6da4\" data-id=\"6ec6da4\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3d10a17 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"3d10a17\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The Opawa vineyard (\u2018smoky river\u2018 in Te Reo Maori) is on the old river bed in Marlborough with classic Rapaura gravel soils. A bright lemon colour with a pale intensity and hints of green edges. Presenting aromas of lemon, passionfruit and green capsicum with just a hint of smoky herbals. A crisply acidic palate of gooseberry, kaffir lime leaf and grapefruits is classic Marlborough Sav; but there\u2019s a different textural element to this wine that suggests a light barrel and lees influence to the winemaking as well. Nicely balanced and ripe, it has a sweeping finish of juicy intensity. Under the well-respected Nautilus umbrella, this is treat of wine, from the fantastic 2019 vintage.
