Whilst it has retained those flavours that spell \u2018Marlborough\u2019 written large across it, this area has quickly become many consumer\u2019s preferred location. I recall a tasting last year where the \u2018Rohe \u2013 Dillons Point\u2019 wine was poured, to gasps of delight from the room! So you can imagine I\u2019m super keen to try this 2021.<\/p>\n
I\u2019ve also been sent the Rapaura Springs \u2018Rohe\u2019 range to try \u2013 a set of regional wines that have been created to showcase the sub-regions of Marlborough and how the distinct terroir of each territory shines through in the wines from the grapes grown there. The palest lemon-gold in the glass. An explosive nose, with honeydew melon, passionfruit, cucumber, lime zest, guava, and herbals of tarragon, basil and chamomile. Tight, energetic and linear with a scintillating acid drive. Dry yet juicy \u2013 more bright, pure fruit on the palate with blackcurrant, preserved lemon and green papaya. Superb salinity and a mineral edge that reminds of a walk on a windswept, shell-speckled and sea-sprayed beach. Mineral through a softer texture at the back. The finish is by contrast quite delicate and ethereal. 94pts<\/strong>.
