A soft nose hinting at flintiness, spicy oak and ripe stonefruit, leading into a medium bodied wine with concentrated citrus fruit and a decent whack of nutty, toasty barrel ferment and ageing influence (9 months in 20% new oak). A fine balance of rich ripe honeyed peach with an underlying creaminess and texture. The fruit is lush, pronounced, sweet and deep \u2013 lychee, pear and fresh citrus. The palate is immensely textural with a striking depth and densely packed weight to it. After such a rounded and plush core, the finish surprisingly lacey and dry, with a light mineral element sneaking in. Superb cellaring potential here.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-975cb99 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"975cb99\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-07ecad5\" data-id=\"07ecad5\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3babd5c elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"3babd5c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Pisa Range \u2018Black Poplar Block\u2019 Pinot Noir 2015<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-108f12d elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"108f12d\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-2d6c88f\" data-id=\"2d6c88f\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ba42acb elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"ba42acb\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>The Pisa vineyards are north of Cromwell, in an area of large diurnal variation (where the temperature varies a lot from daytime to night)<\/strong>. Winner of a Gold Medal at NZIWS this year.\u00a0A dense, deep red coloured wine with very spicey and complex bouquet including savoury herbals, cherry, cloves and star anise. It\u2019s sweet-fruited and youthful, despite it\u2019s year in French oak barriques lending a hefty wadge of oak flavours integrated into the layered palate. It has a finesse to the medium-bodied core \u2013 almost syrah-like in its poise\u2026 definitely something quite french about its elegance.
