This is where he tastes every separate barrel that has been fermented from the individual vineyards, looking for the ones that speak most eloquently of the \u201cexpression of site\u201d that he\u2019s looking for. It is probably the goal of every winemaker in the country \u2013 to produce a wine that is a pure expression of a vineyard. Malcolm explains: \u201cI am more excited about the 2019 than I think any vintage previously. It really just was one of those perfect storms\u201d These are the pinnacles of Rockburn Central Otago Pinot Noir.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-9488ebb elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"9488ebb\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-f1f85af\" data-id=\"f1f85af\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d362f9e elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"d362f9e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>Rockburn Eight Barrels Gibbston Pinot Noir 2019<\/strong><\/p><p>A single vineyard wine, from their Gibbston Back Road Vineyard. Broodingly dark purple, with an inky depth. Aromas of blackberry, lilac and musk rose florals, and smoky, almost peaty earthiness. On the palate are coltish, succulent cherry and raspberry fruits, underpinned with toasted spices. Plump tannins are balanced and nicely integrated, and add depth to the silken texture. A fair dab of oak seasoning comes in, along with a savoury, cr\u00e8me fraiche tang, to the long lingering finish. <strong>95pts<\/strong>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-3bbf866\" data-id=\"3bbf866\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4c3e794 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"4c3e794\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>Rockburn Eleven Barrels Parkburn Pinot Noir 2019<\/strong><\/p><p>Another single vineyard Pinot \u2013 this one from the Parkburn Vineyard in Pisa. Bright, deepest ruby in the glass, with damson, thyme and morello cherry notes emerging on the nose. Medium-bodied &#8211; saturated with ripe redcurrant, rosehip syrup, dried herbal and black tea flavours. Delicate but deep, with fine, lightly grippy tannins and a woody spiciness. Clearly youthful yet already showing focus and harmony.
