It made for a delicious nights drinking.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-76a992a elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"76a992a\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-3a56604\" data-id=\"3a56604\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7845b74 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"7845b74\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Tasted side by side, in two separate glasses (our finest Riedel stemware), but first in was <strong>The Hillside<\/strong>. A deep, dark ruby colour, a little lightening at the rim; with a wealth of moss, crushed fennel seed, ripe blackcurrant and a flush of warm lavender and musk-rose aromas. A graphite, stony minerality sits astride a succulent cassis, balsam, redcurrant jelly and black olive core. Fresh leather, a dusting of cedar and a frisson of lively acidity lend a poise and tension to the mid palate. Refined, with mellow tannins \u2013 some savoury notes of game, mocha and smoky incense. <strong>94pts<\/strong>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-6024071 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"6024071\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-d1075f5\" data-id=\"d1075f5\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-83f686e elementor-widget elementor-widget-image\" data-id=\"83f686e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"image.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"480\" height=\"720\" src=\"https:\/\/winefolio.co.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Esk-Valley-T2.jpg\" class=\"attachment-large size-large wp-image-1729\" alt=\"The Terraces Esk Valley\" srcset=\"https:\/\/winefolio.co.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Esk-Valley-T2.jpg 480w, https:\/\/winefolio.co.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Esk-Valley-T2-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-fe4be67\" data-id=\"fe4be67\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-70507e3 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"70507e3\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>The Terraces<\/strong> is a far younger wine, giving away six years age to its older sibling, but the difference in depth and complexity wasn\u2019t obvious \u2013 what the Hillside had in development, the Terraces showed more in focus and concentration. Again, a dark, near-black claret colour.\u00a0A complex bouquet of boysenberry, damson, vanilla and woody herbs with a lift of pink peppercorn. Decadent layers of flavours &#8211; Morello cherry, blackcurrant leaf, cassis, ginger marmalade and dates threaded with a warm, amber cocoon of toasty oak. Deep but delicate &#8211; gentle extraction, moderate acidity, lithe sinewy tannins. Integrated and with fine line and balance. Both sweet and savoury elements &#8211; like bark, roast beets and liquorice return in the everlasting finish. <strong>95pts<\/strong>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-0ba6422 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"0ba6422\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-8d383aa\" data-id=\"8d383aa\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-9549382 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"9549382\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Both wines had superb \u2018unfolding\u2019 qualities. They seem to grow in the glass. Dense and powerful, these are our New Zealand \u2018Grand Cru\u2019 reds.
