A single vineyard wine – from “Vineyard 287” (named after an old chicken farm plot), and only produced in exceptional vintages. This sits at the very top of the De la Terre range of Chardonnays. Barrel fermented in French barriques, with 20% new oak. A ripe perfume shows peach, quince, grapefruit and lemon and touches of baguette, vanilla, caramel and woody herbs. Medium-bodied, but plush and concentrated. The palate has plenty going on, carried on a steely acidity. A well-judged level of toast from the oak suits the style, and there\u2019s a also a generous, silky texture that coats the back of the palate.
