From a \u201cclassic Waiheke Island vintage\u201d typified by a warm, dry growing season with good ripening conditions that produced concentrated, structured reds. Reflecting this \u201cThe Point\u201d in this vintage is a blend of 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc, 4% Malbec and 2% Petit Verdot, which was fermented to 14.0% and aged 19 months in new and seasoned French oak. The wine is sealed under cork which was in impeccable condition.<\/p>\n
In the glass it is medium ruby with some transparency on the edge but has a solid core and little sign of ageing. Complex cedar, graphite, cassis, redcurrant and pomegranate moving into secondary phase aromas which are very attractive. Fine tannins with a touch of dustiness. This is beautifully matured and more about mouthfeel and texture than having a specific flavour profile. Perfectly integrated, harmonious and has lifted acidity which suggests many years ahead.
