A single vineyard wine from the 5.6 hectare Fusilier vineyard – rolling northerly-facing terraces at the western end of Felton Rd in Bannockburn. A dark burgundy-purple colour in the glass. Strong varietal typicity, with a core of black cherry fruit, and plenty of savoury mushroom, smoked meat, cola and peat added in. Orange peel, lavender and thyme also show. The core has firm tannin, with grip and tightness through the palate. The glossy fruit benefits from a swell of acidity mid-palate, and it is all very well balanced and cohesive.
