A dense, opaque burgundy-purple in the glass. There are the beginnings of secondary flavours in the bouquet, after ten years in bottle. Savoury notes of tapenade, warm leather and mushroom sit underneath brighter flavours of cherry, root beer, star anise, cranberry, thyme, sumac and rose petals. Led by acidity on the palate, which is crisp, dry and medium-bodied. A lightness of touch at first, before the tannin swoops across, with a drag across the palate, highlighting the more earthy qualities.
