{"id":12543,"date":"2025-05-01T08:19:07","date_gmt":"2025-04-30T20:19:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/winefolio.co.nz\/?p=12543"},"modified":"2025-05-01T08:20:05","modified_gmt":"2025-04-30T20:20:05","slug":"vinarchy-a-new-global-wine-company","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/winefolio.co.nz\/?p=12543","title":{"rendered":"Vinarchy: a new global wine company"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>Australian Wine Holdco Limited (\u201cAWL\u201d) \u2013 a consortium of international institutional investors \u2013 yesterday announced the creation of <strong>Vinarchy<\/strong>, a new global wine company, combining the assets of wholly-owned <strong>Accolade Wines<\/strong> with the Australian, New Zealand and Spanish wine businesses formerly owned by <strong>Pernod Ricard<\/strong>, which were acquired by AWL in April 2025.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\"> The corporate name Vinarchy combines <i>Vin <\/i>(the French word for wine), with <i>Archy <\/i>(from the Ancient Greek word for leadership). Together it means wine leadership.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Vinarchy will be one of the world\u2019s largest specialist wine companies, with more than AU$1.5 billion in annual net sales revenue. Their business is focused on wine, and comprises a multitude of leading wine brands, operating across multiple countries with worldwide distribution, and employing more than 1,600 people globally.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>Vinarchy has 11 wineries in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and Spain, producing more than 32 million 9LE cases annually, and owns Berri Estates, the largest winery in the Southern Hemisphere.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>Their brands include <strong>Hardys<\/strong> \u2013 the number two Australian wine brand globally; <strong>Campo Viejo<\/strong> \u2013 the number one Rioja wine brand in the world and <strong>Jacob\u2019s Creek<\/strong> \u2013 in the top 10 most valuable wine brands in the world.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\"> \u00a0<\/span>Alongside these brands, Vinarchy holds the number one market position in New Zealand with<strong> Stoneleigh<\/strong>, <strong>Brancott Estate<\/strong>, and <strong>Mud House<\/strong>.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>The Vinarchy portfolio also includes fast-growing Australian brands <strong>Grant Burge<\/strong>, <strong>Jam Shed<\/strong>, and <strong>Petaluma<\/strong> and a range of fine wines from all regions including <strong>St Hugo<\/strong>, <strong>St Hallett<\/strong>, <strong>Orlando<\/strong>, <strong>Church Rd<\/strong>, <strong>Ysios<\/strong>, and <strong>Tarsus<\/strong>.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Vinarchy is led by Executive Chairman Ben Clarke, who held a similar role at Accolade Wines since September 2024.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>Ben Clarke said Vinarchy will bring scale and innovation to global winemaking:<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\"> \u00a0<\/span>\u201cWe believe Vinarchy can lead the future of the wine category.
