A Pinot Gris from grapes grown in Grovetown, in the Lower Wairau Valley of Marlborough. A pale straw colour in the glass. Scented with pear, nectarine, apple pie, almond, white pepper, orange peel and bags of baking spices. More zesty in the palate than the rich nose suggests, with a brisk acidity highlighting more citrus notes, but the spice certainly persists. The fruit is ripe and interest is accentuated by a silky texture developing and broadening the palate.
