I\u2019ve embraced this \u2013 not just for the addict in me to get my weekly tasting fix, but because they\u2019re really rather good! I\u2019ve done four icons of NZ wine already \u2013 <strong>Yvonne Lorkin<\/strong> started the ball rolling with a WineFriend sesh, then <strong>Matt Dicey<\/strong> had a few Bannockburn words of wisdom. <strong>Steve Smith<\/strong> gave a great run down of his new CRU wines, but the gems so far have been the triple act from <strong>Valli<\/strong> wines weekly presentations.<\/p><p>Marketing magician <strong>Hollis<\/strong> pulls together winemakers (and story tellers) <strong>Jen Parr<\/strong> and <strong>Grant Taylor<\/strong> for an hour of ramblings through philosophy, technique, tastings and a dash of history. I\u2019ve enjoyed these sessions immensely \u2013 I\u2019m already looking forward to next weeks\u2019 hour on their Waitaki productions.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-50bb367\" data-id=\"50bb367\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-21a5010 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"21a5010\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Like the Valli operation \u2013 you have wines that an unmistakable sense of place \u2013 <em>terroir-driven wines<\/em> that taste of the place they were grown (Pinot with aromas of rosehip, thyme and tannins that nestle between a balsam and a black tea character) and yet are fresh, bright and sing of warm days, cool nights and the carefully crafted nuances of master winemakers \u2013 guiding the wine through to the bottle, with just the lightest touch \u2013 <em>sparky, jazzy, and vibrant<\/em>.<\/p><p>So with the pairing of Jen and Grant \u2013 it\u2019s a masterstroke combination that leads to beautifully crafted, and more importantly, glorious tasting, wines.<\/p><p>Amongst the best in Central, and by association then in NZ \u2013 and to my mind certainly \u2013 the world? Some top producers overseas are now wondering how they can reinvent their generations-old wines to match this sprightly newcomer.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-5eb7339 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"5eb7339\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-de1bdfc\" data-id=\"de1bdfc\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-373f3d5 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"373f3d5\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>I already reviewed the rather special 2018 Valli Gibbston Pinot Noir this year \u2013 the review is just over a few pages, in here.. <br \/>https:\/\/winefolio.co.nz\/index.php\/2020\/01\/23\/valli-gibbston-valley-pinot-noir-2018\/<\/p><p>I\u2019d recommend tuning in to the edition planned for next week.
