From the Dillons Point sub-region of Marlborough \u2013 the vineyard planted in an old cow paddock. Very pale in the glass, just a hint of greenish-gold colour. The scent can\u2019t be mistaken for anything other than Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc; with plenty of identifying aromas of gooseberry, passion fruit and freshly mown lawn. There is more to this though, and those who pay attention to the development of sub-regional nuances within Marlborough will start to see the zing of whitecurrant, chamomile and green papaya that comes from this area. Very juicy, the fruit highlighted by some saline acidity. Concentration is good this year, but not such that it masks a bright energy that dances across the palate. Elements of crushed shell, and a distinctive briney note – green olive and pickled lemon also emerge.
